Fabric stores and upholstery shops usually have samples of the fabrics they sell and use. When these fabrics are discontinued these businesses go through these samples and fabrics and throw them away...or... Someone like me takes them and uses them to create the pretty little visions that come to me while I'm daydreaming in the hammock. I was blessed to have my lovely friend Mimi gift me with a mother load of fabric samples and leather scraps that otherwise would have been thrown in the trash. I imagine ALL the work that goes into making these fabrics, the cost it takes to get them to their final destination just for so much to eventually end up in the trash! Such a waste! I've also been playing with the idea of using (used) bicycle inner tubes for part of the soles of the shoes I make. I also make bags/reusable shopping totes, wallets, jewelry and accessories, pet toys and beds, braided rugs, a bicycle seat for William made from a milk crate....Whatever pops into my head when I sit down at my machine! Other than supplies like thread, some buttons, elastic, glue, needles, etc the creations posted on this page are made of reclaimed and salvaged materials! I will be opening an online store in the near future!
Re-used & Recycled!
Here I will share some of my creations made from reclaimed and salvaged materials! I LOVE to create and when I can save something from becoming trash and instead make it into something useful it makes my heart happy!
